Hveravellir is a high temperature, geothermal area with many beautiful hot springs surrounded with mountains and glaciers. It lies between the Langjökull glacier and Hofsjökull glacier on the ancient highland route Kjölur.
After this long exciting day we will have a nice barbeque before our relaxing bath in the natural hot spring just outside the mountain hut. Nothing compares to lying in the natural hot pool on a winter night, gazing at the countless stars and with some luck the northern lights will also be visible.
We start our tour from Reykjavik heading towards the west coast of Iceland. This is a very interesting route up to the glacier because on the way we see fjords, mountains, lava fields, hot springs and waterfalls.
The Landmannalaugar area is rich with multicolored rhyolite mountains and expansive lava fields.
Grímsfjall is adjacent to the volcanic peak of Grímsvötn, near the western end of the Vatnajökull ice cap.
