Arrival in Keflavík, meet & greet with your driver/guide.
Our first stop is Thingvellir National Park, home of Iceland´s ancient parliament where we will experience first hand the dramatic mid-Atlantic ridge.
The geothermal area of Haukadalur, home of the great Geyser. Up the road is the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall cascading down the two teired drop of the white colored Hvita river, with its powerful glacial run-off waters.

•Participants need to be reasonably fit and bring their winter gear, warm clothes, boots/hiking boots, etc.
•Guests can either bring their own sleeping bags or they can rent them from Mountain Taxi. Some winter gear can also be rented.
•Hotel accommodation is subject to availability and if the hotels mentioned in the plan are not available we will have to change hotels, possibly influencing the pricing of the tour. All accommodation has private bathroom facilities.
We then head into Landmannalaugar traversing a few streams and rivers in our specially build super jeep.
Opportunity for a hike around the beautiful Landmannalaugar area.
Although Hekla is relatively dormant today it’s last eruption was less than ten years ago on 26th Feb 2000.
The variations in the lava and vegetation shaped by the forces of erosion create a spectacular setting for the volcano.
The beautiful wetlands area of Myvatn is a protected nature reserve with exceptional fauna and flora. Originally a volcanic fissure, Myvatn is home to many species of duck that enjoy it’s year round open water areas due to the hot springs feeding it.
Sprengisandur route, is the longest stretch between the South and the North. It is mostly desolate and barren and in olden times, the few who dared use this route rode as fast as possible for fear of ghosts, giants, elves and outlaws.
Dettifoss is the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of volume discharge, charged with water from the Vatnajökull glacier. The falls are 100 m wide and have a drop of 44 m down to the Jökulsárgljúfur canyon.
Húsavík has become a centre of whale watching in the north due to whales of different species that frequently enter the bay. Blue whales, humpback whales as well and minke whales can be spotted.
The nature reserve Herðubreiðalindir in the widest untouched part of the country filled with natural contrasts.
The remote Askja volcano area was used during training for the Apollo program to prepare astronauts for potential lunar conditions. We visit the awesome explosion craters of Askja and Viti, now lakes. The last eruption of the Askja was in 1961.
It’s name means “Midge Lake,” after the hordes of gnats that breed in the shallow waters (so bring bug spray), but the pesky insects – perfect food for fish – support the best trout and salmon fishing in Iceland.
Domestic flight back to Reykjavik where you can enjoy a last afternoon and evening in the capital city before departing home. There is plenty to do by day and night - we’ll be pleased to discuss your preferences for sightseeing, dinner and nightlife.
Surrounded by mountains, Akureyri is the second largest city in Iceland, with a population of about 17,000. Akureyri has the world's northernmost botanical gardens and 18-hole golf course.
Departure for the Keflavik international airport or an optional extended stay in Iceland. It is possible to extend the tour for additional days and more excursions, or just enjoy a relaxing time in Reykjavík.
