As we head out of Reykjavík to the south shore enjoy seeing traditional and historic Icelandic settlements spaced out along the ring road and the large sheep, dairy and horse farms along the way. Keep your eyes open for the first glimpse of the Eyjafjallajökull eruption, and the stunning Seljalandsfoss falls.

Coming into view are the towering volcanic islands of the Westman islands, just off the south coast. After a short stop in the small town Hvolsvöllur, we head into Fljótsdalur valley to the best possible view point to see the eruption from a few kilometres distance.
Our day starts with your expert driver and guide welcoming you onboard one of our special Mountain Taxi super jeeps.
We’ll collect you from your hotel or place of stay in Iceland at 09:00.
After we have heard the breathtaking explosions and seen the giant ash clouds rise to the sky we head further east to the south shore to see where the ash has covered miles of farmland. After a stop at the Seljalands waterfall,

We’ll head on eastward to the larger neighbouring glacier Mýrdalsjökull where we will venture up a steep mountain road to the end of the road near the glaciers edge. This is Iceland´s fourth largest glacier and the home of the active volcano Katla.
We also walk close up to the powerful Skógafoss waterfall, which is often circled by beautiful rainbows on sunny days. As we head back toward the Capital we go off-road on the lava beaches looking for seals and treasures. We end our day back in Reykjavík with rich memories of the raw power of nature.
