As we approach the geothermal area of Haukadalur, home of the great Geyser, chances are good you will see the reliable Strokkur geyser erupt in 5 to 7 minute intervals.
This geyser spouts boiling water to as height of approximately 25 to 30 meters. We will stop at the Geysir site with plenty of time to explore the hot springs and view several eruptions of Strokkur.
We then head up the road to the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall cascading down the two teired drop of the white colored Hvita river, with its powerful glacial run-off waters.
Our day starts with your expert driver and guide welcoming you onboard one of our special Mountain Taxi super jeeps.
We’ll collect you from your hotel or place of stay in Iceland at 09:00.
Our first stop is Thingvellir National Park, home of Iceland´s ancient parliament. After a 15 to 20 minute walk through the park where we will experience first hand the dramatic mid-Atlantic ridge.
We head eastward on the mountain road Lyngdalsheiði with great views of the rugged lava fields on the hills above Laugarvatn.
We will drive north onto the beginning of the famous Kjölur interior mountain road. It is the second longest of the roads through the Highlands of Iceland, since the first times of Icelandic settlement and is mentioned in the Icelandic sagas.
Here we approach Iceland’s second largest glacier – Langjökull. During the summer months we will drive up onto the Langjokull glacier while in the winter months snowmobile activities take place either next to or on the glacier, snow conditions permitting.
Depending on the weather and time of year, optional activities can be pursued in this region.

•Lunch stop at 13:00 approx. will be at the Gullfoss dining hall, where we will enjoy traditional Icelandic meat soup and sandwiches before heading on our way. The cost of lunch is included.

•Weather and snow conditions permitting, we recommend a one hour guided snow-mobile tour, which can be included in your itinerary.
•Additional warm clothing will be provided.

Later in the afternoon we head south through the agricultural headland of southwest Iceland along river valleys and through small settlements. We’ll stop at the explosion crater at Kerið for a visit to this geological wonder.
If time allows we will stop in the hot springs town of Hveragerði before ascending to the Hellisheiði plateau on our way back to Reykjavík
